Dr. Hassan Mir is a cardiologist at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute and an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine. His clinical and research interests focus on advancing cardiovascular health, particularly in general cardiology, structural and valvular heart disease, cardiovascular imaging, and cardiac prevention and rehabilitation.
Passionate about mentoring the next generation of healthcare providers, Dr. Mir leads a research team at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, where he focuses on the evaluation and implementation of digital health technologies, smoking cessation, and preventive cardiology.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Mir is an expert in advanced echocardiography, using this technology to plan and guide minimally invasive transcatheter interventions for valvular and structural heart disease.
His expertise in interventional echocardiography, alongside his work in the Division of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation and Smoking Cessation Programs, positions him as a leader in the field of cardiac prevention and treatment.
Dr. Mir’s recent academic pursuits include completing the Program in Clinical Effectiveness at Harvard University, and he has obtained a Master of Health Informatics at the University of Toronto. Recognized internationally for his clinical, research, and leadership achievements, Dr. Mir has published extensively in high-impact journals and secured multiple grants to support his innovative work.
Additionally, he has developed mobile health applications aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs, reflecting his commitment to leveraging technology for enhanced cardiovascular care.
